Mallewi (stylised in all lowercase) is an autodidact, multi-disciplinary artist and creative from Baltimore. With a big imagination and limited resources, mallewi naturally gravitated towards the arts at a young age.

mallewi’s palette of passions includes poetry, song production, visual arts, singing, acting, voice acting, songwriting, and more. mallewi has won citywide creative writing contests, excelled in theatre, and at the age of 12, the city of Baltimore selected mallewi to create a ceramic mural of Billie Holiday for the grand opening of the Eubie Blake Center alongside 11 artists around the city. At 17 years old, mallewi received an International Baccalaureate Diploma with a concentration in visual arts, and later became the first in their family to attend and graduate from college.

While experiencing bouts of depression as a young adult, mallewi coped by writing poetry. Poetry inspired songwriting, and songwriting inspired mallewi to learn how to sing. From there, mallewi was curious to learn production and how to play instruments. And the inspiration continued...

In 2019, mallewi released THE GARDEN, a folk soul EP. In 2020, mallewi released another project, RETINA, which peaked at #21 on iTunes’ top 25 alternative album summer releases. The rollout of mallewi’s third project, APOLLO, is scheduled to begin in winter 2024. APOLLO will be a neo-soul, pop, and R&B-inspired project that explores love, loss, sexuality, existentialism, and renewal.
